Paving the way for more women in the political, business, and civic arena is an investment in more just, equitable, and peaceful societies.<\/p>

Girls and women have a right to engage in civic society, vote in elections, be elected to government office, serve on boards and make their voices heard in any process that will ultimately affect them, their families, and their communities. Investing in girls and women\u2019s rights to political participation is a necessary step to achieving global gender equality and democratic governance. This is because women in position of authority tend to resolve national crises without resulting to violence, advocate for social issues that benefit all and allocate budgets to health and education investing in girls and women creates a ripple effect that yields multiple benefit not only for individual women but also for families, communities and countries. Studies show that increasing women participation in governance leads to greater investment.<\/p>

For any society to attain a sustainable development, it is pertinent to<\/p>

  • Eliminate structural and legal obstacles that hinder girls and women participation in politics and decision making and hold those obstructing them accountable.<\/li>
  • Introduce an inclusive gender sensitive leadership pathways to help bring all girls and women into political spheres.<\/li>
  • Secure an equal visibility of female politicians and decision makers and promote more inclusive representation of leadership.<\/li>
  • Promote community and sport program that foster leadership skills for girls and women and promote gender equality<\/li>
  • Fund grass root organizations that build the capacity of girls and women to participate both individually and collectively in social economics and political and public life.<\/li><\/ul>
