In commemoration of International Women\u2019s Day on March 8, 2025, the Women Empowerment Education and Peace Building Initiative (WEPBI) actively participated in the Walk to Accelerate Action Against Femicide. The event, organized by Amnesty International Nigeria, took place at Okpara Square, Enugu, serving as the focal point for the South-East Geopolitical Zone.<\/span><\/p>\n

The walk was a significant advocacy effort aimed at raising awareness of the urgent need to combat femicide and gender-based violence. It brought together human rights activists, organizations, and concerned citizens, all united in their call for justice and policy reforms to protect women and girls.<\/span><\/p>\n

WEPBI\u2019s Executive Director, Ijeoma Joy Oguadimma, joined other advocates in addressing the gathering, emphasizing the importance of strategic interventions in preventing violence against women. She highlighted the necessity of legal accountability, community education, and policy implementation to ensure justice for victims and a safer society for women and girls.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Femicide is a grave violation of human rights, and we must take collective action to prevent it. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, we can create a society where women are safe, valued, and protected,” Oguadimma stated.<\/span><\/p>\n

WEPBI remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering women, educating communities, and promoting peacebuilding. The organization continues to champion initiatives that foster gender equality and safeguard the rights of women and girls.<\/span><\/p>\n
