The University of Calabar (UNICAL) is rewriting its story, and at the helm is a history-maker, Blessing Alims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 After 49 years, UNICAL finally has its first female Students’ Union Government (SUG) President. Blessing, a brilliant mind studying Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, isn’t just breaking barriers , she’s doing it with an outstanding CGPA of 4.75.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blessing isn’t new to leadership. This powerhouse is a serial volunteer, having worked with organizations like the Girl’s Power Initiative and the Bridge Leadership Foundation. From tackling social issues with NGOs to advocating for youth with UNFPA Nigeria, Blessing has a heart for service. Her passion extends to her peers , she’s a founding member of UNICAL’s Youth Friendly Hub, empowering students with skills for a brighter future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Blessing isn’t just about talk; she’s a doer. Remember that Youngers Foundation competition across Africa? Blessing was the only winner from Cross River State, earning her a life-changing trip to Rwanda. Recently, she honed her leadership skills further at the Young Women Leadership Training Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then came the ultimate test \u2013 the SUG presidential debate. Blessing didn’t just participate; she dominated the competition, leaving four male contenders in the dust with a score of 87 points. Her victory wasn’t a fluke; it was a testament to her intelligence, dedication, and unwavering commitment to positive change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blessing Alims’ story is more than just a win for UNICAL; it’s a win for women everywhere. It’s a powerful reminder that women are ready, capable, and deserving of leadership roles. As Blessing takes the reins, it’s a call to action \u2013 let’s open more doors for women in politics, decision-making spaces, and leadership positions.
