{"id":2039,"date":"2023-05-17T10:10:50","date_gmt":"2023-05-17T09:10:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wepbi.com\/en\/?p=2039"},"modified":"2023-05-17T10:10:54","modified_gmt":"2023-05-17T09:10:54","slug":"osun-police-reacts-to-viral-video-of-personnel-flogging-a-woman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wepbi.com\/en\/osun-police-reacts-to-viral-video-of-personnel-flogging-a-woman\/","title":{"rendered":"Osun Police Reacts to Viral \u00a0Video of Personnel Flogging a woman"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div id=\"section-geb6a55\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e6 section-geb6a55 gutentor-element gutentor-element-image\"><div class=\"gutentor-element-image-box\"><div class=\"gutentor-image-thumb\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"normal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/wepbi.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Tola.jpg\"\/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Osun State Police Command has debunked a viral video which showed policemen beating a woman, describing it as an old video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the video which has since gone viral on social media, the woman that was beaten, Tola Abdulazeez was standing beside a police patrol van.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement by the Osun Commissioner of Police, Patrick Kehinde Longe through the spokesperson of the Command, Yemisi Opalola and obtained by DAILY POST, she stated that the trending video on social media was an incident that occured in Iwo during the COVID-19 lockdown in April, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statement reads, \u201cThe Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the trending video on social media was the video of an incident that happened in Iwo during the COVID-19 lockdown in April, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Policemen involved were made to face the force disciplinary measures and they have been sanctioned accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe police Command wishes to state that the video is misinforming and misleading, which is a calculated attempt to incite members of the public against police.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While warning against the spreading of false information, Longe enjoined the members of the public to disregard the viral video as such could trigger members of the public\u2019s anger against the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On her part, the victim of the incident, Tola Abdulazeez stated that the trending video has brought about memories she had tried to let go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her words, \u201cReminiscing this moment has not been easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis video trending again is bringing about memories I have tried to let go. I was brutally brutalized but Nigerians stood for me.
