She managed to complete her entire course using Braille, and credits her friends and tutors for helping to fill in the gaps. Jess, has now joined the Bar- and is believed to be the first black and blind person to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;According to her, \u2018It was hard and I often thought of giving up, but my supportive family gave me courage and strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018I always believed in myself from the start \u2013 there\u2019s nothing about me which means this isn\u2019t possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018I know I can do this job really well, and the more people like me who go through training the easier it will become.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s a really good feeling, I know I\u2019m giving hope to others in similar situations to mine. There\u2019s a triple glazed glass ceiling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018I\u2019m not the most common gender or color, and I have a disability, but by pushing through I\u2019m easing the burden on the next person like me.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g96e26f\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e6 section-g96e26f gutentor-element gutentor-element-image\"><div class=\"gutentor-element-image-box\"><div class=\"gutentor-image-thumb\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"normal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/wepbi.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/jessikah-2.jpg\"\/><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Jess is completely blind and had to use Braille throughout her time at the University of Law in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She started her accelerated law degree in September 2017 before starting a master\u2019s two years later alongside a professional training course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Braille can be read on a special screen that usually gives one line at a time, or from specially printed books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Jess claims it took seven months for her university to obtain one of her two key study texts so she could read on her computer, and five months for the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, because of pictures and tables in the books, her Braille screen missed huge chunks of material, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jess says she got through most of her university studies by making her own braille notes by transcribing her lecture notes and by asking friends to read to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There is no limit to any height you want to attain as woman, no matter the condition you find yourself in.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jessikah\u2019s story should serve as an inspiration to you.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WOMEN ARE BORN GREAT!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>23- year old Jessika, from Camden, north London, said: \u2018It\u2019s been crazy \u2013 I still can\u2019t really believe I\u2019ve done it,\u2019 \u2018One day I\u2019ll wake up and realize how amazing this is.
