A family man identified as Chima, and his girlfriend, have allegedly hacked his wife at Omerelu community, in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was gathered that the misunderstanding started when the wife, with name, Wakaego, confronted him for bringing his girlfriend to their home on Monday, which lead to both of them attacking her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wakaego\u2019s elder brother, Anayo Warisi, while speaking to journalists, said his sister was seriously injured and rushed to a hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said, \u201cIt was this morning (Monday); my sister\u2019s husband brought another woman to their house. So, she asked him why he did that. He started beating her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen he cut her all over her body with a machete. But her leg was worse. My siblings took her to a hospital in Elele, but she was rejected because the injury was serious. So, they moved her to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, where she was admitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe want the husband arrested because this is a case of attempted murder. Let justice be served.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, a group, Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, has called for a thorough investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group\u2019s Secretary, Gladys Oyenmwen, said, \u201cDomestic violence under any guise has no place in our society and should not be condoned irrespective of who is involved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police command confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect\u2019s girlfriend had been arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
