Today 30th of November 2022, WEPBI Inaugurated more women into the traditional rulers council in two communities in Igboeze North Local Government Area Enugu State on the We have 6 in Onitsha-Enugu Ezike and 7 in Ikpamodo Autonomous community. The Executive Director of WEPBI, Oguadimma Joy Ijeoma admonished the women, telling them of the need to be supportive to the men in terms of decision making and for them to be actively participating in decision making and leadership of their community and that if the society. She also encouraged and advise that they should use the opportunity to attract development and progress that will be beneficial to the women as well as the community at large. She finally thanked the traditional rulers for given the women equal representation in their cabinet and community. She also promised to monitor their progress and build these women’s capacity for greater positions in leadership and decision-making spaces.
Other communities in Igboeze North Local Government includes 7 in Inyi Enugu-Ezike Autonomous community, 7 in Amachalla Autonomous Community and 4 in Igogoro Autonomous community, making it a total number of 31 women in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State. Currently, WEPBI have recorded a total number of 54 women in traditional rulers council in Enugu State which we are still advocating for more women inclusion in leadership and decision-making spaces in the state.
