Mr. Anthony Mgbenwa Okpara, a seventy year old man, has been accused of killing a 13-year-old deaf and dumb girl, Ms. Uche Onwuzuru, after sexually abusing her.
It was gathered that incident happened in Aborjieze village, Umuagu-Inyi Autonomous Community in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.
A source in the community, who pleaded anonymity, said the corpse of the late Onwuzuru has been deposited in a mortuary by the culprit.
According to the source, Okpara, who initially ran away after the incident, is now promising to build a house for the family as well as marry the late Onwuzuru in death.
“A man who is above 70years of age by name Mr Anthony Mgbenwa Okpara took advantage of a 13-year-old girl who is deaf and dumb. Her name is Uche Onwuzuru. Her father’s name is Mr Cyril Ajala Onwuzuru, she was sexually abused to the point that the little girl lost her life immediately after the act.
Adding to the gravity of the situation is that the girl was a minor and physically challenged, and her impoverished parents are now struggling with her tragic death resulting from the incident.
“Now Mr Anthony Mgbenw Okpara absconded immediately he got wind of the death of this girl. But, later submitted himself to the police”, the source added.
She however alleged that the man was doing everything possible to bribe the Police from proceeding with the case.
While regretting the death of the poor physically challenged girl, the source said the community want just to take it’s cause on the sad event.
