Dialogue with female politicians in other to map out key strategies for the increased participation of women in politics, other leadership and decision – making space in Enugu State.

In a bid to change the situation in the political system, the female politicians highlighted the factor that triggers the limitation of women participation in politics from traditional gender roles, gender-based stereotypes and discriminatory attitudes and norms to exclusion from decision-making structures within the lack of opportunities for career development. Also, education – without information and knowledge can make participation in politics be difficult. Social isolation – there is a limited network to support and encourage political participation. Personal factors – women may have limited confidence or motivation to participate.

The strategies and approach was addressed by the female politicians through following a clear thought and conscious process. Rt. Hon. Princess stated that Girls and women have a right to engage in civil society, vote in elections, be elected to government office, serve on boards, and make their voices heard in any process that will ultimately affect them, their families, and their communities and this can be obtained through ;

• Creating awareness which can be achieved via social media, radio and television jingles etc.
• Women community service to the people
• Educating the girl child & women about politics due for position via sensitization and capacity building
• Community women Empowerment-grass root mobilization
• Dialogue with stake holders and Traditional Rulers
• Town hall meeting with women leaders of the community.

Women needs to be recognized as part of the political system. Investing in girls’ and women’s right to political participation is a necessary step to achieving global democratic governance.
