Several others abducted with couples as gunmen kill two security operatives

Suspected terrorists has killed two vigilantes and kidnapped several others, including a newlywed couple, from Shola Quarters in Katsina metropolis on Sunday morning.

Shola Quarters is located behind the former Katsina Federal Medical Centre, presently known as the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Teaching Hospital.

According to an source who pleaded anonymity, the abductors stormed the area around 1 a.m. and continued to operate unhindered until about 2:30 a.m., when the vigilantes arrived.

They eventually lost two of their members after being outgunned by the bandits in a gun duel that forced them to run away.

About the newlywed couple, it was learnt from one of their cousins, Usman Masanawa that the husband, Yusuf Bishir, informed him of their situation, but there was nothing he could do.

He revealed that the hoodlums smashed the building’s wall in order to gain access to the new couple’s apartment.

Usman added that, in addition to the injured vigilante members, scores of residents were kidnapped, and those injured in the attack are being treated at the teaching hospital.
