The moving ahead of the court in the trial of BRT driver in Lagos who raped and murdered Oluwabamise Ayanwola a 22-year-old fashion designer has failed due to the absence of the his lawyer, Abayomi Omotubora.
Commencing the hearing of the case before Justice Sherif of the lagos High Court having it’s sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square, Dr. Babajide Martins who is the Director of Public Prosecutions announce his representing the state bringing to the notice of the court that the defense’s council, Abayomi is sick.
According him, he said that he called the Mr. Aboyomi but he said that he is sick and said apologized for not letting the court be aware of that.
Justice Sonaike the Judge after listening to the Director of Public Prosecution adjourned the case to June 9, 2022 for the continuation of trial.
On the 1st of June 2022 when the case was supposed to hold, the defendant was not produced in court because of ban on commercial motorcycle known as Okada by the Lagos State Government which made the controller of prisons, Adebisi Adewale, to give an order for temporary suspension of taking inmates to court due to a security report of possible breakdown of law and order.
Meanwhile, Andrew Ominikoron who is the defendant is facing a five-count charge which borders on Rape, Sexual Assault, Murder, Conspiracy and Felony leveled against him by the Lagos State Government which he pleaded not guilty.
