Insecurity: Commercial motorcyclist killed by gunmen in Imo

On Tuesday, an assailant killed a commercial motorcyclist at Ogbaku market on Owerri- Onitsha Road in Owerri, Imo State.

It was gathered that the gunmen who were eight in number operated in a red sienna vehicle and came from the Oguta road.

 Kelechi Iwuagwa and eyewitness said that the incident happened around 8:00 am in the morning, stating that the victim identified as Anthony is from Obudagwa village in Agwa Autonomous Community, Oguta council area.

According to Kelechi “They were about eight in number. When they asked him to enter the car, he resisted, asking them to identify themselves before one of them got aggrieved and shot him on his leg.

“Two others got so angry after they told him three times but he insisted. Realizing that the deceased had attracted much attention, they came down and shot him in the chest before taking off.”

The Secretary General of the Ogbaku Youth Association, Justice Nwafor, also confirmed the occurrence saying that the remains of the victims had been evacuated from the scene.

He also revealed that the youth body had reported the incident to the Ogbaku Divisional police headquarters and that the deceased’s motorcycle had been taken to the police station.

The Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, in the state, Micheal Abattam, had yet to respond to an inquiry concerning the incident.
