The women leadership induction program that had 30 registered students at owerri was championed by the Executive director of WEPBI, Oguadimma joy Ijeoma, who has been a great voice in empowering women and young girls with the necessary skills for mental and social growth in the society. A lot of women are from homes where they were raised to be timid, mediocrity and never stand out. Women are to be encouraged to live their best lives and this and this encouragement should come from the home. She added that parent should try to encourage their children especially their daughters to stand out and roar at all times. This is the core value of WEPBI, to train young women and prepare them for leadership opportunities. |
In addition, Oguadimma Joy Ijeoma Highlighted the followings of WLA 1. The WLA vision is to build equitable society in which women are competent and great leaders. The WLA mission is to raise 2. women and girls to stand out in our society, participate in decision making process and in peace building, irrespective of their creed. |
Following her opening speech, she stated that the objective of the Academy is to groom young women leaders and get them prepared and positioned for political opportunities and to strengthen WEPBI’s capacity to support programs implementation. Oguadimma joy Ijeoma encouraged the students to not let their backgrounds keep their back to the grounds. Sir Chilos Godson one of the guest speakers of the occasion stressed that youth that youth should belong to social movement as this will enable them to fully participate in politics without being afraid. The Afrikist further opined that we must be able to sacrifice their time in other to get to our promise land as women. Culture has been an impediment to women participation in politics, as well as the effect of Christianity marginalization as Africans. |
Mrs Ijeoma Udensi a gender Activist & Entrepreneur appreciated WEPBI for the opportunity given to the young girls to be trained in leadership skills. She encouraged the young girls holding professional credentials to stand up and be politically involved. A woman decides if there should be peace or war in their homes. She emphasised that women should be encourage to run for political positions. She likewise referred to the WLA students as honourable members of the society Mrs Juliet Okiyi said, we are changing the narrative, when your man is growing, you should also grow. She said the women’s anthem and promised to send a copy to the students at their first class. Iheme Chris Kelechi stressed that the students should not miss out on any class as attendance is compulsory, in his words “if you need to trek to class please do” The Executive director. Oguadimma Joy Ijeoma gave a vote of thanks, as she express her profound gratitude to all the guest who graced the event with their presence and the amiable students who despite the down fall of the rain saw that the make it to the induction as this shows their excellence and commitment towards achieving their goals. |
