The Nigerian Consulate in South Africa has confirmed that three Nigerians were shot and killed between November 14 and 17 in South Africa.

A statement by the Consulate General of Nigeria in Johannesburg on Friday, revealed that the death of the Nigerians in Durban, was as a “result of intra-community violence that has was not handled properly.
It said: “The Consulate General of Nigeria is saddened by the latest reports of killings of Nigerians in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
“Preliminary accounts indicate that three Nigerians were shot and killed between 14th and 17th November 2022 due to intra-community violence that has not been adequately managed. The Federal Government as well as other well meaning Nigerians have since expressed concerns over the sad incidence.
The mission has called for calm and restraint, while efforts were made by the High Commission, Consulate General and South African authorities to curb the violence. Religious/traditional and community leaders have also been asked to bring their spiritual and moral authority to bear on current efforts towards the peaceful resolution of the issues.
While sympathizing with families of victims of the latest killings, the Consulate General appealed to members of the Nigerian community in Durban to avoid violence and any action that will worsen the current situation. Urging the community to be law abiding and to always refer any conflict to the relevant authorities.
