Edo State Police Apprehend University Student for Fatally Stabbing Girlfriend

Authorities from the Edo State Police Command have detained a 24-year-old university student, Victor Ochonogor, following the tragic death of his girlfriend, Success Regha. The incident occurred on Monday, shaking the community. Ochonogor, a final-year student at the University of Port Harcourt, allegedly stabbed Regha to death at a residence on Osahon Street, Ogheghe Quarters, off Sapele Road, Benin City.

The distressing event unfolded within the confines of their shared residence. As tensions escalated, Ochonogor and his girlfriend reportedly engaged in a violent altercation, resulting in both individuals sustaining stab wounds. Tragically, the confrontation resulted in Regha’s untimely demise.

State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Dankwara, conveyed the somber news during a press conference in Benin on Tuesday. The case was brought to the attention of law enforcement by the suspect’s landlord, Emmanuel Momoh.

Ochonogor revealed to journalists that he and the deceased had been in a relationship for three years. According to him, the violence erupted after an accusation from Regha that he was involved in kidnapping activities. This allegation incited his anger, leading to the tragic outcome.

In a separate incident, Etinosa Omoregie, associated with the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service, was also presented to the media for his alleged involvement in a murder case. The suspect reportedly shot Eric, who later succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a hospital.

Additional arrests were made in connection with other grievous offenses. Efosa Osayande, 31, was apprehended for allegedly disseminating explicit images of his ex-girlfriend to the public without her consent. Another suspect, Friday Igberase, was taken into custody on charges of rape.
