A female politician and once a gubernatorial candidate of Enugu State, Barrister Nnnenna Anozie has called on the country to take into consideration the inclusion of women in the political leadership of the country.
Speaking on a live radio program organized by Women Empowerment Education and Peace Building Initiative (WEPBI) to discuss the preparedness of women for the up and coming 2023 election, Anozie said that it will not be a crime if for once the nation celebrate a woman as a president of the country.
This can be achieved by giving women the opportunity to come close and participate in the political activities of the nation.
Stressing on that, the renowned politician said that they have kept their fingers crossed looking at the different parties who are now on the process of selecting their running mates for governorship and presidential election. According her, if the parties refuse to project women for the second seat in the elections, they will move on with their ‘No Woman No Vote’ campaign.
Barr. Anozie said that the country have remained stagnant for a long time in the area of development and should try another option of including women to see their ability and potentials.
For her, a platform where men, women and the youths are working together to achieve a common goal will surely move the country forward while presenting an equitable society.
“As good as women are in cleaning up the dirt in the home, that is how they will be good in a cleaning up the different abnormalities in the country” She said.
Speaking also in the program, the Executive Director WEPBI, Oguadimma Joy Ijeoma added that in other to make sure the mission of increasing women participation in leadership is achieved, they will keep on sensitizing the people to disregard some religious and cultural barriers and statements that discourage women and the voting of women into important political position in the country.
A caller in the program Mr. Justice from Orlu Imo state encouraged women to keep on striving, for one day a woman will surely rule this nation. According to him, those that are saying that women are not fit for leadership role in the country, should look at some foreign countries where women are president, vice president, ministers and so on.
