WEPBI Executive Director Advocates for Women’s Inclusion in Politics on Signature TV

On April 3, 2025, the Executive Director of the Women Empowerment Education and Peace Building Initiative (WEPBI), Ijeoma Joy Oguadimma, appeared on Signature TV to discuss the challenges faced by women in Nigerian politics and the urgent need for increased female participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

During the insightful conversation with host Charles, Oguadimma emphasized the importance of women supporting one another and actively engaging in political spaces. She noted that systemic barriers, intimidation, and harassment continue to discourage many women from contesting for leadership positions.

“As 2027 draws closer, this is a wake-up call for women to start preparing, campaigning, and ensuring they are not silenced or bullied out of the political space,” she stated.

Using Natasha Akpoti’s political journey as a case study, she underscored the power of resilience and courage in leadership. She urged women to speak out, own their voices, and never back down, stressing that politics should not be a battlefield where women are marginalized but a space where diverse perspectives are valued.

Oguadimma’s advocacy aligns with WEPBI’s commitment to empowering women and promoting gender inclusivity in governance. As Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 elections, she encourages women to break barriers, challenge the status quo, and step boldly into leadership roles.
