The candidacy of an African woman, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to lead the World Bank represents a historic opportunity to strengthen the organization in its mission to attack global poverty.

The respected economist and diplomat leads nominations to become the World Bank next President, if successful she will be the first woman to occupy such a highly placed position.
